Prepare your evidence
Study abroad document checklist for Indian students
Start with an evidence inventory, then check each institution's and authority's requirements. This planning checklist helps you organize the work; it is not a universal application document list.

Build an inventory before ordering new documents
Use the groups below to identify what you already have and what needs checking. A document's existence does not mean it is current, complete or accepted for the purpose you intend.
| Group | Examples to inventory | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Passport and any relevant name-change evidence. | Do the details match across the records you will submit? |
| Academics | Certificates, transcripts and subject information. | Does the institution need additional verification or a particular format? |
| Language | Test result or other accepted evidence. | Is this type and date of evidence accepted for the course? |
| Application | Personal statement, references, CV or portfolio where requested. | Which items does this specific program require? |
| Funding | Savings, sponsor or confirmed award evidence. | What evidence is accepted, and when must funds be available? |
| Immigration | The checklist for the relevant visa category. | Which requirements and exceptions apply to your circumstances? |
Give every item a purpose and source
Keep a record with six fields: document, requesting institution or authority, official requirement URL, accepted format, current status and next action. Use statuses such as ready, requested, needs correction or requirement unconfirmed.
An admission offer and a CAS are different records. GOV.UK explains the CAS requirement for a Student visa. Germany applicants should use the German Missions' current study guidance to check the evidence applicable to them.

Schedule tasks in dependency order
Start with the document that other work depends on. For example, check the final transcript for errors before arranging a required translation. Confirm accepted formats before paying for certification or a courier.
If a deadline is approaching, ask the institution directly whether pending evidence can be accepted and keep its response. Do not infer an exception from another student's experience.
- Identify items that require another person or institution to respond.
- Keep course, scholarship and visa deadlines as separate tasks.
- Check names, dates, missing pages and legibility.
- Keep originals and a clear record of which version was submitted.
Use the checklist without sharing more than necessary
You can start planning with an inventory rather than uploading every document. In AbroadQ, review any extracted details before using them in your profile. A file being uploaded does not mean an authority has verified it.
Use official application channels when submitting evidence. Do not put passport numbers, bank statements or private application details into public reviews, comments or shared research notes. Seek qualified help when a discrepancy or prior immigration issue needs case-specific advice.
